Fred Woods Trail – Driftwood, Pennsylvania

This was going to be my first trip to the Quehanna Wild Area but just like everything else in life, plans change. We set off early in the morning, 3am to be exact, for the Quehanna Wild area based on the coordinates we found on a blog. Yeah…turns out the Internets lied to us because when we arrived there was no trailhead; in fact we weren’t even close. I still have no clue where we were, thank God for GPS.

We decided to abandon the Quehanna idea and do a quick Internet search. We came across a trailhead that was pretty close, the Fred Woods Trail located in the Elk State Forest. Off we went hoping we could save the trip.

All of this early morning confusion should explain why we seem so clueless in the beginning of the video below. We of course plan all of our trips before just trouncing into an unknown area, but in this case plans had to change.

Our hard work, determination and grace from God rewarded us with a beautiful scene. This particular morning was very foggy which added an extra amount of peace and tranquility to the woods. The Fred Woods Trail is easily in the top 5 of the most beautiful trails I have been on.

Please check out the below photos and video from the trip. Don’t forget to leave a comment. Enjoy!
