Chris and Carolynn - Wright Township Fire House, Mountain Top Pa, Wedding Photography
Fairytale Beginings
The story of how Chris and Carolynn met is almost straight from pages of a fairytale. But, first we have to go back about 2 years ago when I first met Chris myself. I was hired by Greg, Chris’s brother, and Amanda to photograph their wedding. Chris was Greg’s best man so throughout the day we got to know each other pretty well. I remember while I was photographing the guys we spent some time goofing around with some photo booth props I brought with me. Good Times.
Fast forward to Greg and Amanda’s reception where they ran into each other. Though they knew each other from friends of friends they never spent much time together. Chris and Carolynn started talking and catching up with mutual friends. As the night wore on they found themselves spending the whole night together talking and having a good time. When the night was done they exchanged numbers and went home. As time went on they began to see each other more often and a friendship became love. What a better place to find your true love than at a wedding reception.
Just 2 short years later and Chris and Carolynn were about to meet at the alter in front of friends, family and God to unite as one. I spent some time capturing the pre-wedding action. I could tell Chris and Carolynn both had pre-wedding jitters but they were both ready to start their lives together.
Beautiful weather
The wedding day certainly was a perfect day with beautiful blue skies, nice puffy clouds and not to hot.
Getting Ready
Julie and I got to the church early and began our pre-wedding setups to make the day run smooth. It wasn’t long until Carolynn and the other bride’s maid arrived to finish getting ready. We were all in the nursery room waiting for the guest to show up. I could tell that Carolynn was feeling a little nervous, so made a couple jokes to lighten the mood. We had some good laughs and everyone started to lighten up.
The Church
The church itself was very nice. With high ceilings and all white walls, it was a photographers dream. Nothing makes a photographer’s job easier than an easy lighting situation.
Kids and Chris Exchange Vows
During the service Chris and the kids made a nice exchange of gifts. Chris also made vows to them and thanking them for accepting him into their family.
Formal Photos
We certainly had a ton of fun during the formal photos. There are plenty of families who do not care to have their photo taken but Chris and Carolynn’s families made the best of it. I have noticed that will many of the shoots I do there always seems to be a funny catch phrase to get everyone laughing. I was having a little fun picking on some people for blinking when someone says “say cheese” then someone yells “no…BEER!” and everyone started laughing. Beer instantly became the catch phrase for the day.
The Reception
The reception was at the Wright Township Fire House. I was very impressed with the hall, it was very clean, appeared newly renovated and plenty of room.
Father and Daughter Dance
One of my favorite moments from the reception was the father and daughter dance. The song they choose was Hartland’s – I loved her first. The song talks about a father giving his daughter away in marriage but reminding the groom that he was the one who loved her first.
When I delivered the photos, Carolynn asked me why her father was waving his finger during their dance. I told her that he was waving his finger in sync with the line “I loved her first and I held her first”. Just from the smile on her face I could tell how meaningful the photo was to her.
Conclusion
This wedding was certainly a lot of fun for me. Chris and Carolynn both have awesome families who are very friendly and loving. I’m glad Julie and I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Carolynn. Check out some more of my favorite photos from the day below. Enjoy!
